Maybe this is also their solution to the issue of trans athletes, if they have a strictly endocrine definition of male and female, maybe they can avoid all the ideological controversies. But then that might lead to the abolition of binary sex itself, when people start wanting to create graduated subcategories of male and female based on personal endocrinology. Who knows?
