That's actually what i was thinking, too. But it made me realize that i just wasn't willing to listen to the details of history because i liked having an easy tribal dichotomy. And it's our polarizing lenses that he's actually talking about.

That’s a lazy and cowardly analysis that can be applied to anything. There is also a “tribe” that always needs to “stay above” the “partisan rancor” to soothe their own egos, lest they take on risk. The details of history are quite clear, as is the attempt to revise it by the losers (both morally and militarily).
